Motivo to uncover
hidden treasure of California’s north coast
SAN MATEO, CALIFORNIA — The
Crescent City/Del Norte County Visitor’s Bureau in California has
retained Motivo, an advertising and marketing firm in San Mateo, to provide
marketing strategy and creative services for its new push to increase tourism.
Del Norte is California’s most northwestern county and sits right
on the scenic Pacific Northwest coastline that borders Oregon. Until now,
its economy relied on natural resources such a lumber and fishing, but due
to changing government regulations and environmental concerns, the county
has seen a steady decline in its mainstay industries. A focus on tourism
is the area’s logical next step to revive its economy.
“We’ve got so much to offer travelers in the way of nature, wildlife,
adventure sports and unspoiled natural beauty, that we’ve decided it’s
time to let the world know with our very first marketing campaign,” said
Jim Strong, the bureau’s Chairman.
Aside from the county’s giant, old-growth redwood forests, its wild
rivers, and rugged coastline, it boasts abundant wildlife such as the many
thousands of Aleutian geese that migrate from Canada every year, and offers
many outdoor activities like steelhead fishing, kayaking, camping, and hiking.
You’ll also find indigenous people living on their native tribal lands
with a long and interesting history that helps make the area so unique.
“We plan to brand Crescent City and Del Norte County to represent the
treasure that it is,” said Adrienne Parker, Principle of Motivo. “We’re
planning a whole new presence on the web, an integrated online, print, and radio
campaign, and a series of promotions and events to enhance the visitor’s
experience.”
The Bureau conducted a formal search for the right marketing team that could
help reach its objectives in a fresh and creative way. Motivo was selected
for its creativity, seasoned team, diverse capabilities and expertise.
“I was thrilled when we were awarded the account,” said Parker. “The
whole team is inspired because we love the area and we see great potential.
We have a special opportunity to do our most creative and rewarding work.
