Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus Big Hit with Solano County Families at “Grand Opening Health Faire”

Attendees Enjoy Tour of New Facilities, Free Screenings, Medical Advice, Food and Entertainment

FAIRFIELD, CA — July 27, 2004

Sutter Fairfield Medical Campus (SFMC), the $30 million outpatient surgery and diagnostic imaging complex serving Solano and Napa counties, held a community event to celebrate the opening for local residents on Sunday, July 25 at its seven-acre Low Court location in Fairfield. The 80,000 square-foot, two-story facility offers residents of Fairfield and neighboring communities the most advanced diagnostic imaging specialties and operating procedures. Leading imaging and surgical practitioners in the area will be available to provide top quality patient care.

The celebration, complete with music and entertainment, welcomed over 600 individuals throughout last Sunday afternoon and offered self-guided tours of the Campus' Fairfield Surgery Center and the “filmless” Diagnostic Imaging Center with medical experts on hand to answer questions about surgical procedures and diagnostic modalities.

Local resident Robin Partino commented, “We did the tour and saw the [Fairfield] Surgery Center and we were very impressed with the whole building—the architecture and furnishings, the feeling of space. It was nicely decorated. Overall I was just very impressed. And there was an abundance of information.”

Attendees received free blood pressure and glucose screenings, and participated in a risk assessment process where local physicians provided advice on diabetes and heart disease prevention. Information on the Women's Heart Advantage focused on the unique symptoms of women who have heart disease. Participants wandered between health information booths where other local physicians and health care professionals were available to answer questions around eye health, diet, exercise, women's health and pregnancy, and how to lower the risks of cancer and repetitive motion injuries.

Special gift baskets were handed out to pre-natal moms and menopausal women, and families won free trips to the Sacramento Zoo at the HIPAA (health insurance portability and accountability act) “hippo” table. Children also enjoyed puppet shows, face painting and musical entertainment all afternoon.

SFMC is part of Sutter Health's $5.7 billion expansion and replacement project in Northern California. It is the newest and largest freestanding outpatient surgery and diagnostic imaging facility in the Sutter Health network, and fills a void for patients as well as local physicians and surgeons in the North Solano County area. At the surgery center, which holds more operating rooms than the regional average, patients will undergo surgery, recover in comfort and be discharged all in one day. The diagnostic imaging center is using the most advanced imaging equipment and information technology systems allowing for shorter procedures, less radiation exposure, faster turn-around of diagnoses and Web-based access to images and reports.
